Join our Data & Analytics team as a Business Intelligence Developer and help shape how data is used across OurCoop through trusted reporting, analytics, and self-service capabilities.
You will be responsible for collaborating with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand information needs and translate business requirements into impactful business intelligence solutions that support data-led decision making across the Society.
Collaborating with the wider Data & Analytics team of managers, engineers and developers, you'll combine business analysis, stakeholder engagement, and technical expertise to design and deliver reporting and analytical solutions that provide meaningful and actionable insights.
You will design, develop and maintain high-quality Power BI dashboards, reports, semantic models and business intelligence products, ensuring they remain aligned to evolving business requirements and organisational objectives.
Working closely with the Data Engineering team, you'll help define data requirements and ensure data platforms, pipelines and models effectively support reporting and analytical needs. You will play a key role in ensuring business metrics are consistent, accurate and aligned to established data governance standards.
As well as helping to shape the organisation's reporting and analytics capabilities, you'll promote and champion the adoption of Power BI and self-service reporting, helping colleagues access, understand and confidently use data to inform decision making.
You will also contribute to the development of business intelligence standards, visualisation best practices and data literacy across the Society, driving continuous improvement in how data is presented, consumed and understood.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring experience delivering business intelligence and reporting solutions using modern analytics platforms such as Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
We're looking for someone who is equally comfortable engaging with stakeholders and developing technical solutions, and who can demonstrate:
- Significant experience designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions using Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, or similar enterprise BI technologies.
- Proven experience working with business stakeholders to gather, refine, and document reporting and analytical requirements.
- Demonstrable expertise in data visualisation, dashboard development, semantic modelling, and reporting best practices.
- Strong understanding of data modelling concepts and the ability to translate business processes and requirements into effective reporting solutions.
- Proficiency in SQL for querying, validating, and analysing data to support reporting and business intelligence solutions.
- Experience working with Data Engineering teams to define data requirements and support the delivery of end-to-end data and reporting solutions.
- Understanding of data governance, security and quality controls.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable, but not a requirement:
- Experience developing solutions using the wider Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.
- Experience developing reporting and analytics solutions within Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience promoting and enabling self-service reporting capabilities within a business environment.
- Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) and other data access controls within Power BI.
- Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks.
- Understanding of data governance and compliance requirements such as GDPR.
- Experience delivering training, workshops, or coaching to support Power BI adoption and data literacy.
- Understanding of modern data architecture concepts, including data pipelines, data warehouses, lakehouses, and Medallion architecture.
