Structural Fabrication Prepper
We currently have vacancies for a proactive Fabrication Prepper to join our team.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a sheet metal or industrial environment.
- Good understanding of ISO9001 and adherence to all Wiltech Ltd policies and procedures.
- Ability to effectively clean, prepare, and prime steel units to a high standard.
- Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for quality control and defect identification.
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining productivity without compromising quality.
- Must be able to use and maintain relevant equipment and tooling.
- Comfortable using personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with safety standards.
- Strong communication skills to update team leaders on progress and potential issues.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Steel Preparation: Clean, key, and seal steel units to the highest standard in preparation.
- Material Preparation: Using power tools to fettle, deburr, and smooth out raw metal edges.
- Marking and Drilling: Reading engineering drawings to accurately mark out dimensions and drill holes for bolting.
- Steel Cleaning: Washing down, degreasing, and masking steelwork to ensure primers and protective coatings adhere perfectly.
- General Fabrication Support: Assisting fabricator-welders with moving heavy components, manual labor, and maintaining a tidy workshop floor.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure there are no defects, ensuring the highest quality standards.
- PPE Compliance: Always wear appropriate PPE to maintain a safe working environment.
- Hours: Static -Afternoons 2pm till 10pm (15% shift allowance).

- Technical Skill: Proficient in using a range of tools and equipment for metal preparation.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify defects, troubleshoot issues, and maintain consistent standards.
- Efficiency: Capable of maintaining a high rate of productivity while ensuring the work meets quality standards.
- Safety Awareness: Thorough understanding of safety procedures and the ability to identify hazards in the work environment.
- Quality Control: Strong focus on inspecting and ensuring completed work meets required specifications.
- Teamwork: Excellent collaboration skills, working effectively with colleagues and supervisors to meet deadlines.
- Time Management: Ability to manage tasks efficiently, ensuring work is completed on schedule.
