Part-Time Bookkeeper / Accounts Administrator
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30am–2:30pm
Hours: 25 hours per week
Location: Busy fabrication workshop and office environment
The role
We are looking for an organised and dependable Part-Time Bookkeeper / Accounts Administrator to support the day-to-day financial administration of our busy fabrication business.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone wishing to develop their accounting and wider business administration knowledge within a practical, fast-moving manufacturing environment.
Main responsibilities
- Entering purchase invoices, sales invoices and other financial data accurately
- Maintaining the purchase and sales ledgers
- Reconciling bank accounts, supplier statements and company credit cards
- Processing receipts, expenses and payment information
- Assisting with credit control and following up outstanding customer accounts
- Preparing information for supplier payment runs
- Maintaining accurate digital and paper accounting records
- Supporting VAT return preparation and other routine financial reporting
- Assisting with payroll information, timesheets and employee records where required
- Producing basic reports for management
- Responding to customer and supplier account queries
- Supporting general office and business administration
- Helping to improve accounting processes, record-keeping and administrative systems
- Providing additional administrative support to the directors and wider team when required
Essential requirements
- AAT Level 2 qualification or higher
- Good understanding of basic bookkeeping principles
- Strong numerical ability and attention to detail
- Confident using Microsoft Excel, Outlook and other standard office software
- Able to work accurately and manage priorities independently
- Organised, reliable and comfortable working within a busy environment
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Respect for confidentiality when handling financial and employee information
Desirable experience
- Previous bookkeeping or accounts administration experience
- Experience using Xero and/or QuickBooks
- Experience with purchase ledgers, sales ledgers and bank reconciliations
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or construction business
- Knowledge of VAT, payroll administration and credit control

Pay: £13.00-£14.50 per hour
