Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Room Leader Nursery Nurse to oversee and support the daily operations of our nursery’s youngest children. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes early childhood development. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate childcare professional to lead a team, implement educational programmes, and ensure the well-being of all children in their care. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, along with extensive experience working with children in a nursery setting.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of nursery staff, ensuring high standards of care and education are maintained at all times
- Plan, organise, and implement age-appropriate activities that support early childhood development
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow
- Monitor individual children's progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their development
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures within the nursery
- Support staff training and professional development initiatives to enhance team performance
- Maintain accurate records of children's attendance, development milestones, and other relevant documentation
- Promote positive behaviour management strategies in line with nursery policies
- Assist with daily operational tasks including meal times, nappy changes, and general supervision
Requirements
- Proven management and leadership experience within a childcare or nursery setting
- Extensive experience working with children, particularly in early childhood education or childcare roles
- Strong understanding of nursery practices, child development stages, and early years curriculum frameworks
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Childcare qualifications recognised by relevant regulatory bodies (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent)
- Valid safeguarding training certification is desirable
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while demonstrating initiative and organisational skills
- Driving licence is advantageous for travel between nursery locations or community outreach activities
Probation Period
6 Months during which time probationary assessments must be passed, digital training programmes completed and positive peer review secured.
Notice Period
9 Weeks written notice.
Pay: £24,784.50-£27,500.00 per year
