We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and detail-oriented Nursery Cleaner to join our team and help us maintain a clean, safe, hygienic and welcoming environment for our children, families and staff.
The successful candidate will take pride in ensuring that our nursery is maintained to a consistently high standard. The role will involve the daily cleaning of communal areas and classrooms, as well as a more thorough 5-hour deep clean at the weekend.
We understand that everyone's circumstances are different, so the role offers flexibility around the individual's schedule. The regular cleaning can be completed either before 8:00am or after 6:00pm, making this an ideal opportunity for someone looking for flexible part-time work.
Hours & Flexibility
- Approximately 2 hours per evening, Monday to Friday
- Regular cleaning to be completed before 8:00am or after 6:00pm
- A 5-hour deep clean on either Saturday or Sunday
- We are happy to discuss the working pattern and find a schedule that works for the right individual
Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the nursery, including:
- Vacuuming and mopping classrooms, communal areas and other nursery spaces
- Cleaning and sanitising floors, surfaces, furniture and frequently touched areas
- Cleaning toilets, communal areas and other facilities
- Ensuring classrooms and play areas are clean, tidy and ready for the following day
- Emptying bins and disposing of waste appropriately
- Cleaning kitchens and staff areas where required
- Cleaning and sanitising toys, furniture, equipment and surfaces as required
- Following the nursery's cleaning schedules and procedures
- Ensuring cleaning products and equipment are stored safely and appropriately
- Reporting any maintenance issues, damage or health and safety concerns to the appropriate person
- Maintaining a clean and organised cleaning cupboard/storage area
Weekend Deep Clean
As part of the role, the successful candidate will complete a 5-hour deep clean once a week at the weekend. This will include more detailed cleaning tasks such as:
- Steam cleaning and deep cleaning carpets
- Thoroughly cleaning and scrubbing walls
- Cleaning skirting boards
- Deep cleaning floors and hard-to-reach areas
- Cleaning doors, frames and other fixtures
- Cleaning areas which may not be covered during the daily clean
- Ensuring the nursery is thoroughly refreshed and ready for the week ahead
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Is reliable, trustworthy and dependable
- Takes genuine pride in their work
- Has excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness
- Can work independently and manage their time effectively
- Has a proactive approach to cleaning and maintaining hygiene standards
- Understands the importance of cleanliness within a nursery and childcare environment
- Is physically able to carry out cleaning duties, including vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing and steam cleaning
- Is flexible and able to work either before 8:00am or after 6:00pm for the regular cleaning
- Can commit to a 5-hour weekend deep clean
- Previous commercial, nursery or childcare cleaning experience is desirable but not essential. We are more interested in finding someone who is conscientious, hardworking and takes pride in doing a job well.
