Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our team, providing compassionate support and care to residents in a care home setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, leadership qualities, and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for our residents. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals experienced in senior care and developing their supervisory experience within a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility
- Ensure all areas of the home are cleaned during the night to a high standard, adhering to cleaning schedules and COSHH requirements
- Monitor residents' health and wellbeing, reporting any concerns promptly
- Supervise and mentor care assistants as required
- Maintain accurate records using IT systems and ensure compliance with care standards
- Foster a warm, respectful environment that promotes dignity and independence for residents
- Administer medication in line with current legislation, protocols and residents needs
- Liaise with healthcare professionals, relatives and other visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Work alongside the management team, completing accurate handovers and following the chain of command when necessary
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a senior care role in a care home environment is essential
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively liaise with residents, families, team members and other professionals
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and professionalism
- IT literacy for maintaining accurate documentation and updating care plans
- Compassionate nature with a strong commitment to resident wellbeing and safety
We are looking for applicants who want full time hours; however for the right candidate we may be able to offer a part time position.
