Business Growth & Creative Marketing Coordinator
Part-time | 24 hours per week | Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, 9am–3pm (School Friendly) | Liverpool
We’re looking for a commercially minded, creative and proactive person to join Lucy Maggie Designs and play a key role in helping grow the business.
This is a varied role combining business development, wholesale growth, marketing, creative support and product development. While there will be some day-to-day administration and operational support, the main focus of the position is growth: finding opportunities, bringing in new customers, strengthening relationships with existing ones, improving how we market our products and helping ensure our product offering remains fresh, relevant and commercially strong.
As a small creative business, this isn’t a role where you’ll be given a fixed list of repetitive tasks. We’re looking for someone curious and commercially aware who will actively look for opportunities, suggest ideas and take ownership of projects.
You might spend one day researching potential new stockists and preparing an email campaign, another analysing which products are selling well and suggesting where we should expand a range, and another creating social content, photographing products or preparing materials for a trade show.
The Main Goal
The core purpose of this role is to help grow Lucy Maggie Designs, particularly our wholesale business.
That means continually asking:
- Where could we sell more?
- Who should we be talking to?
- Which products and ranges are performing well?
- What should we be designing next?
- What trends are emerging within cards, gifts and stationery?
- How can we better market what we already have?
- How can we encourage existing customers to order again?
- Are there gaps in our current product offering?
- Are there opportunities we're currently missing?
We want someone who enjoys answering those questions and, importantly, turning the answers into action.
Wholesale Growth & Business Development
A major part of the role will be supporting and developing our wholesale business.
Responsibilities will include:
- Researching and identifying potential new independent and larger retail customers.
- Building and maintaining a database/CRM of prospective stockists and contacts.
- Carrying out regular, personalised outreach to prospective wholesale customers.
- Following up leads generated through trade shows, Faire, email campaigns and other channels.
- Re-engaging previous and lapsed wholesale customers.
- Helping develop strategies to increase repeat orders from existing stockists.
- Identifying potential new retail groups, distributors, agents and other sales opportunities.
- Researching retailers before outreach to ensure our approach is relevant and considered.
- Supporting wholesale email campaigns and seasonal sales pushes.
- Monitoring the performance of wholesale activity and identifying what is generating results.
- Keeping customer and prospect information organised and up to date.
- Supporting the development of offers, promotions or incentives designed to drive wholesale orders.
- Looking for opportunities to increase average order value and encourage customers to explore more of the range.
Product Development & Commercial Analysis
We want our product range to be creative, distinctive and commercially viable.
You will help ensure the range continues to evolve by:
- Regularly reviewing product and sales performance.
- Identifying bestsellers, slower-moving products and opportunities within existing ranges.
- Suggesting ways successful ranges could be expanded or developed.
- Identifying potential gaps within our greeting card, stationery and gift offering.
- Researching emerging product categories and suggesting new areas for the business to explore.
- Keeping abreast of developments within the greeting card, gift and stationery industries.
- Monitoring competitor activity, retail trends and wider consumer trends.
- Identifying upcoming occasions, themes and cultural trends that could inspire commercially relevant products.
- Helping develop considered new-product launches, particularly with the wholesale market in mind.
- Supporting pricing, positioning and presentation decisions for new products.
- Helping review new designs from a commercial perspective alongside their creative appeal.
- Using available sales data to help guide future product development rather than relying solely on instinct.
The role isn't about designing every new product yourself - it's about being someone who can spot an opportunity and say: "we should be doing this."
Marketing & Customer Engagement
You will help us communicate consistently with both existing and potential customers.
This will include:
- Planning and coordinating marketing campaigns around new launches, seasonal events and key selling periods.
- Creating and sending customer newsletters.
- Developing marketing activity specifically aimed at wholesale customers.
- Creating campaigns to re-engage customers who haven't ordered recently.
- Helping communicate new product launches effectively.
- Supporting promotional activity around trade shows and industry events.
- Monitoring campaign performance and learning what types of communication generate engagement and sales.
- Suggesting new ways of reaching customers and increasing awareness of the brand.
Social Media & Content
You will help manage Lucy Maggie Designs' social presence and ensure we have a regular stream of engaging, on-brand content.
Responsibilities will include:
- Planning and maintaining a social media content calendar.
- Scheduling regular social posts.
- Creating graphics, photography and video/Reel content.
- Photographing new products and creating lifestyle imagery.
- Creating behind-the-scenes studio content.
- Keeping abreast of social media formats, trends and platform changes.
- Identifying relevant trends that could work naturally for the brand rather than simply following every trend.
- Developing content around new launches, products, events and trade shows.
- Monitoring which content performs well and adapting future activity accordingly.
- Helping grow and engage our online audience.
Creative & Design Support
Depending on your skills and experience, you will also provide creative support across the business, including:
- Creating product mock-ups and digital marketing assets.
- Producing graphics for social media, newsletters and the website.
- Preparing print-ready artwork for stationery and other products.
- Creating and updating wholesale catalogues.
- Designing trade show and event materials.
- Preparing sales sheets, product presentations and other buyer-facing materials.
- Lifestyle and product photography.
- Basic image editing and retouching.
- Supporting product development and prototyping.
- Helping ensure our visual presentation remains consistent across different sales channels.
Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and/or InDesign would therefore be particularly useful.
Online & Product Administration
Alongside the growth-focused elements of the position, you'll help ensure the information supporting the business remains accurate and organised.
This may include:
- Keeping online wholesale and retail catalogues up to date.
- Adding and updating products across relevant sales platforms.
- Reviewing product descriptions, images and information.
- Helping track licensed products and ranges.
- Maintaining organised digital files and Dropbox folders.
- Monitoring stock availability when planning marketing campaigns or product launches.
Customer & Market Insight
An important part of the role will be developing a good understanding of both our customers and the wider market.
This could include:
- Reviewing customer ordering patterns.
- Identifying which products appeal to different types of retailers.
- Gathering informal feedback from wholesale customers.
- Researching competitors and comparable brands.
- Monitoring what's appearing in independent shops and larger retailers.
- Keeping up with greeting card, stationery, gifting, design and lifestyle trends.
- Looking at upcoming seasonal and occasion opportunities.
- Reporting regularly on interesting findings, opportunities and ideas.
We don't want research that disappears into a folder — the aim is to turn useful insights into products, campaigns and sales opportunities.
Trade Shows, Markets & Events
Trade shows are an important part of our wholesale growth strategy, so you will help with:
- Preparing products, catalogues and marketing materials ahead of shows.
- Planning how new ranges will be presented.
- Helping merchandise the stand.
- Attending trade shows and markets where required.
- Speaking confidently with existing and prospective customers.
- Recording leads and customer information.
- Making sure leads are followed up promptly after events.
- Reviewing results afterwards to understand what worked and what we can improve next time.
Reporting & Growth Planning
We'd like this person to help create a clearer picture of what's happening commercially within the business.
Over time, this could include maintaining a simple Business Growth Snapshot covering areas such as:
- New wholesale leads generated.
- New accounts opened.
- Follow-ups completed.
- Repeat/customer reactivation activity.
- Wholesale sales performance.
- Bestselling products and ranges.
- Marketing and newsletter performance.
- Social media growth and engagement.
- New product opportunities identified.
- Upcoming trends, occasions and opportunities worth exploring.
This isn't intended to create unnecessary reporting — it's about making sure we're focusing our time on activity that actually helps the business grow.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Commercially minded and genuinely interested in helping grow a small business.
- Creative, with a good visual eye and an interest in design, products and retail.
- Proactive and comfortable suggesting ideas rather than simply completing assigned tasks.
- Naturally curious and interested in discovering new brands, retailers, trends and opportunities.
- Confident carrying out research and turning it into practical recommendations.
- Highly organised and able to manage several projects at once.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of their workload.
- A strong written communicator who can adapt their tone when speaking to buyers, customers and consumers.
- Comfortable reaching out to prospective customers and following up leads.
- Able to interpret basic sales information and identify patterns and opportunities.
- Detail-focused and reliable.
- Comfortable working within a small company where priorities can change quickly.
- Happy to balance creative projects with some less glamorous administrative tasks when required.
- Someone who sees something that needs doing and takes the initiative to deal with it.
Experience within wholesale, retail, e-commerce, marketing, business development, greeting cards, gifts, stationery or the wider creative industries would be particularly valuable.
Experience with some combination of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Shopify, Faire, email marketing platforms, spreadsheets and social media scheduling tools would also be advantageous.
The Role
This is essentially a right-hand creative and commercial role working closely with the business owner.
We're not looking for someone whose sole responsibility is posting on Instagram, nor a traditional salesperson making cold calls all day. We're looking for someone who can understand the whole business — our products, customers, brand and market — and help identify where the next opportunities are.
The right person will be excited by the idea of working in a small creative company where they can have genuine input into what we make, how we market it and where the business goes next.
The core priority is simple: help us find opportunities, turn good ideas into action and grow the business.
Pay: From £16.50 per hour
