Part-Time Commis Chef (Daytime Hours)

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated junior chef looking to build your skills in a fresh food kitchen? Our small but lively café, set in a scenic location just outside Guildford, is looking for a part-time Commis Chef to join our friendly team.
We serve homemade breakfasts, brunches, lunches, cakes, and desserts, all prepared from scratch using fresh, quality ingredients.
About the role:
This is a part-time position offering 18–30 hours per week, working 3–5 days, with shifts scheduled within our opening hours of 9am-4pm. Weekend availability is essential.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assisting across all areas of the kitchen under guidance from senior chefs
- Helping with daily prep
- Baking cakes and scones
- Washing up and keeping the kitchen clean, maintaining food hygiene standards
- Working as part of a small team in a fast-paced environment
What we’re looking for:
- At least 2 years’ experience working in a professional kitchen
- A genuine interest in fresh food and learning new skills
- Experience with brunch-style cooking and baking is a plus
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and team player mentality
- Reliability and flexibility, with availability on Saturdays & Sundays a must
