Class 1 HGV Tanker Driver
Based out of our Stoke, Warrington or Ellesmere Port depot. We are recruiting a general purpose liquid tanker driver.
John Miller operates a modern general purpose tanker fleet, transporting bulk liquids for the biodisel industy, mainly biodiesel and tallow, moving the product to and from Ellesmere Port across England. Our tanker fleet makes deliveries 363 days a year to support our customers. The fleet is made up of DAFs and Scanias, all the trucks are less than 5 years old.
New starts will be given training to ensure they understand the procedures of John Miller and the customer. Training will be signed off once the new start can safely and confidently load and unload with both compressor and hydraulic pump. An ADR qualification is not essential as most of the products are non hazardous. Tanker experience is an advantage but it is not essential.
Our drivers set high standards, they take pride in their work, their trucks and the tankers they pull. The successful candidates will therefore need to take pride in every aspect of their work.
Job description
The successful candidate will work a 5-day week (Monday to Friday), averaging 60 hours a week, with 4 nights out. The driver will collect and deliver Biodiesel (non hazardous), Tallow (non hazardous) and Mixed Oils (non hazardous) across England using a general-purpose tanker, pumping loads on and pressurising loads off. The truck can be based at either our Stoke, Warrington or Ellesmere port yards.
Rates of pay
- £15.40 an hour Monday to Friday (full spread, including breaks)
- £17.00 an hour on a Sunday
- £31.20 (tax free) per nightout
- £10 (tax free) meal allowance on last shift of the week
