We are now looking for a Class 2 HGV Driver to join our Logistics department. This is a vital role with the following responsibilities and requirements:-
General Purpose
Your role will involve loading and unloading tyres in a manner that maximises payloads, the timely and safe transportation of goods, adherence to transport laws, and maintaining a positive company image.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Carry out safety checks on your vehicle at intervals as required and follow the safety instructions/checklist provided.
- Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
- Load and unload trucks, vans, or automobiles in a safe and efficient manner.
- Inspect the cargo to check whether it has been loaded correctly and securely.
- Carry out tasks as assigned by the Weighbridge.
- Complete assigned collections to achieve daily logistic targets.
- Update customer collections via the app – including customer signatures.
- Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, tachographs, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records that are requested from management.
- Operate assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner, obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
- Liaise with staff, Managers, other field staff and clients/customers in a polite and professional manner.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Commercial driving experience - 18 tonne
- A clean driving record and a U.K. Driver’s licence
- Current and Valid CPC and Tacho Cards
- An ability to concentrate ensuring road safety
- Knowledge of the roads and networks in the local area
- Good customer care skills
- Being able to work well independently
- The ability to remain calm under pressure, for instance, when driving in inclement weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of computers, handheld devices and relevant electronic applications
- Good communication skills to follow instructions, work with colleagues and deal with customers
- It's a physical demanding job, therefore high stamina and strength is required to on and off load tyres
Successful candidate may be required to undergo DBS check and referencing.
