As a Test & Commissioning Engineer, you'll play a key role in bringing CMS2's innovative air purification systems to life, carrying out testing and commissioning activities to ensure equipment performs to the highest standards and complies with company procedures, customer requirements, and relevant regulations.

Set-up, configure, test, commission and maintain complex process equipment
- Low- and high-pressure testing
- Electrical testing
- Perform pre-commissioning checks, functional testing, and performance validation of equipment in Portsmouth and on site if required.
- Able to use basic test equipment such as, Multimeter, Loop calibrators , oscilloscope.
- Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests on mechanical components, piping systems, and plant assemblies in accordance with engineering specifications and safety regulations.
- Carry out, flash testing, IR testing, earth bonding, point to point checks
- Carrying out activities in line with the company’s test procedures.
- Investigating mechanical and electronic problems, diagnosing/repairing faults.
- Work with engineering and technical staff to develop new and existing equipment.
- Ensure documentation and test results are recorded as required.
- Feedback design and maintenance issues to appropriate personnel.
- Run system demonstrations with customers.
- To control and maintain professional standards within the test areas.
- To record and analyse data being captured within the test environment.
- Ensure Health, Safety, Environment and Quality requirements are adhered to at all times
- To maintain professional standards within the shop floor / test bay areas.
General activities:
- Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as required to support the needs of the business.
- Provide a professional backup service for colleagues during peak times or during absence.
- Follow company procedures, standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain continuous professional development to ensure knowledge is up to date.
- Act as an ambassador for the company in all interactions with customers and the public
Essential:
- NVQ/HNC qualification in engineering
- Apprenticeship in relevant engineering field
- Previous test & commissioning experience in a highly regulated industry (process engineering)
- Strong commitment to health and safety, environment and quality
- IOSH Working Safely
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as process engineering drawings, specifications and procedures
- Good hands on electrical / mechanical skills
- Pragmatic approach to tasks
- Must be able to work efficiently as part of a team and to work under pressure in a challenging environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- Flexibility, enthusiasm, self-motivated and able to work well under own initiative
Desirable:
- HND/Degree qualified in engineering
- Previous experience within a manufacturing and defence environment
- Shipbuilding / Ship Repair background within the MOD / Naval Industry
- Familiar with NPI / NPD
- Experience of air purification equipment on-board submarines highly desirable
- Able to forge strong working relationships both internally and externally
- IOSH Managing Safely
- 5S / LEAN continuous improvement
Some travel to MoD sites in the UK and customer sites overseas may occasionally be required.
Other requirements:
- Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK
- Candidates must have passed UK security clearance to Security Check level or be able to obtain this level. To gain SC clearance you will normally have had to have been a resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
- Candidates must be able to obtain a basic security check which will normally require you to have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years.
