Job Title: Part-Time Complex Care Support Worker (Paediatrics)

In this role, you will provide tailored, person-centred support to achild with quadriplegic cerebral palsy, making a real difference to both her and her family.
Shift Pattern & Hours
- Term Time (After School): 3 hours per day, 3 times a week (3:30pm to 6:30pm)
- Weekends: 10 hours every Saturday, and 10 hours every alternate Sunday
- School Holidays: 6 hours per day on weekdays
About the Role & Client Needs You will be supporting child with complex physical and communication needs. Key responsibilities include:
- Mobility & Handling: Assisting a wheelchair-dependent client, including manual handling and hoisting.
- Personal Care: Providing dignified personal care, including pad changes.
- Nutrition: Assisting with oral feeding.
- Safety & Supervision: Ensuring safety and providing close supervision during floor time due to head-banging.
- Communication: Engaging and connecting using non-verbal communication methods.
- Community & Family Life: Accompanying the family on outings, and taking the child out independently to enjoy local activities like soft play and hydrotherapy. You will also provide occasional sole-charge care at home.
Clinical & Seizure Management
- Monitoring for seizure activity.
- The child experiences absence seizures (no intervention currently required) and has a history of tonic-clonic seizures (stable for a few years).
- Administration of daily medication and emergency medication (Buccal Midazolam) if required (full training provided).
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a health or social care setting (paediatric or complex care experience highly desirable).
- Friendly, patient, and confident nature.
- Prior experience or strong awareness of epilepsy, seizure management, and learning disabilities.
- Fluent English (oral and written) to support non-verbal communication and accurate logging.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK manual driving licence required (to take the client out into the community).
