Salary: £42,000 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week, varied shift patterns between 6:00am and 8:00am starts, Monday to Friday. Occasional Saturdays for stock takes)

The Role
We're looking for an experienced and driven Warehouse Operations Manager to lead our warehouse, yard and furniture assembly operations.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong operational leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys using data, systems and continuous improvement techniques to drive performance.
Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for delivering a safe, efficient and cost-effective operation, ensuring stock accuracy, operational performance and exceptional customer service. You'll lead a team of Team Leaders and Warehouse Operatives across multiple shifts while working closely with Customer Operations, Transport and Inventory teams to deliver outstanding results.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations Management
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, yard and furniture assembly areas
- Plan and manage resources to meet operational demand and customer requirements
- Ensure inbound, storage, picking, assembly and outbound activities are completed accurately and efficiently
- Optimise warehouse layout, storage capacity and workflows to maximise productivity
- Maintain high levels of stock accuracy and inventory control
- Drive the successful implementation and ongoing development of warehouse systems and technologies
People Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Team Leaders and Warehouse Operatives
- Create a high-performing, accountable and engaged team culture
- Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance reviews and absence management meetings
- Support employee development and wellbeing
- Promote teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement
Continuous Improvement & Systems
- Use SAP, warehouse management systems and operational data to drive performance improvements
- Analyse operational KPIs and identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality and efficiency
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using structured problem-solving approaches
- Support the introduction of barcoding and technology-based improvements across the warehouse operation
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Lead Health & Safety across the warehouse and yard operation
- Ensure compliance with legislation, ISO standards and company procedures
- Carry out inspections, audits and risk assessments
- Maintain a safe, organised and efficient working environment
- Oversee waste management and recycling processes while ensuring environmental compliance
- Ensure all warehouse equipment is maintained, safe and fit for purpose
Financial & Operational Performance
- Manage the warehouse budget and control labour, overtime and operating costs
- Monitor operational performance against agreed targets and KPIs
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Work collaboratively with Customer Operations, Transport and Inventory teams to deliver excellent customer outcomes
- Ensure warehouse, assembly and yard operations consistently meet service expectations
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Significant experience managing warehouse operations in a fast-paced distribution, logistics or warehousing environment
- Experience leading and developing Team Leaders and operational teams
- Experience managing budgets, labour planning and operational costs
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, stock control and inventory management
- A formally recognised warehouse, logistics or supply chain qualification
- Experience using warehouse systems, SAP, WMS, PDA or barcoding technology
- Excellent leadership and people management skills
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making ability
- Excellent planning, organisational and resource management skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Desirable
- Experience implementing warehouse systems, technologies or process improvements
- Knowledge of Lean, PDCA, 5 Whys, Kaizen or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
