We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic data-entry / administrative assistant to work in our busy Parasitology Reference Laboratory based within the Faculty of Infectious and Tropical Diseases at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
The role holder will support a small team that provides a highly specialised Malaria Reference Laboratory (MRL) service for the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA). The MRL offers both a confirmatory and surveillance service for cases of imported malaria into the UK.
The role holder will support the Principal Biomedical Scientist with maintaining the UKHSA MRL database and compiling data for audit, case investigations and reports to other organisations, plus other administrative duties, as required.
The successful candidate will have a background of accurate data entry abilities, solid communication skills and an excellent customer care focus; will possess excellent communication, organisational and time management skills and have a systematic approach to their work. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training and, once training is complete, will be required to work independently at times. Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is fixed term until 31 March 2026 and part-time 20 hours per week, 0.57 FTE. The post is funded by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and is available immediately. The salary will be on the Professional Services Grade 3 salary scale in the range £29,514 - £33,207 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
