· Safe: Safety as the foundation—robust care planning and continuous review
· Improving: Always learning, listening and raising standards
· Compassion: Individualised, gentle, respectful care
We’re looking for a Cook who takes pride in great food, high standards, and a well-run kitchen—someone who understands that mealtimes are a huge part of residents’ wellbeing.
The role (what you’ll be doing)
· Preparing and serving nutritious, varied meals that residents enjoy, with choice wherever possible
· Planning menus for a set period, taking account of preferences, allergies, special diets and texture-modified meals
· Maintaining high standards of taste, presentation and portion control
· Keeping the kitchen clean, safe and compliant with Health & Safety and food hygiene requirements
· Completing required checks and records accurately (e.g., temperatures, cleaning schedules, deliveries, stock rotation)
· Working within an agreed budget, managing stock control and reducing waste
· Supporting special occasions and events in the home (working with the activities team)
· Contributing to audits and the home’s quality assurance programme
What we’re looking for
· A warm, professional approach and genuine care for residents’ wellbeing
· Experience in a professional kitchen (care/healthcare/hospitality experience all welcome)
· Strong organisation skills and attention to detail—accurate record keeping is essential
· Confidence with menu planning, stock control and working to budgets
· Ability to work as part of a team and build positive relationships across the home
· Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent)
· A professional catering qualification (e.g., City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent) is preferred
· Right to work in the UK — applicants must not require sponsorship now or in the future

Working hours 18 per week including early, lates and weekends.
· To be agreed with the Registered Manager (role can be tailored per home)
