JOB PURPOSE
There is no greater mission than keeping the public safe. This communications role is integral to supporting the Metropolitan Police Service to engage effectively with communities, partners and stakeholders through high-quality visits and events.
This role works as part of the Visits and Events team, which designs and delivers a proactive and strategic programme of engagements for the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and wider Management Board, as well as overseeing the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of the Met's corporate events and awards.
As a Visits and Events Officer, you will support the planning and delivery of a range of corporate internal events and awards, alongside external visits that help build understanding, trust and advocacy for the priorities set out in A New Met for London 2. These will include Precision Leadership Summits (PLS), annual corporate awards, key leadership events and community engagement events at a local level.
Working under the direction of the Head of Visits and Events and the Visits and Events Manager, you will be responsible for delivering defined elements of visits and events activity. This includes providing strong administrative, logistical and coordination support, contributing to event planning, and ensuring engagement activity is delivered professionally, safely and to a high standard.
You will play a practical, hands-on role in delivery. This may include supporting roundtables, receptions, conferences, senior leader engagements and operational visits that showcase the work of the Met. The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment.
Alongside this core focus, the role will occasionally work with colleagues in the political engagement strand to assist with incoming visit requests from Government and City Hall, helping to design visits that support our priorities and advocate for the Met.
