Multi-Skilled Builder / Refurbishment Operative

We are looking for a reliable and genuinely multi-skilled builder to join our property refurbishment and maintenance team.
We have a regular supply of residential properties requiring refurbishment and are looking for someone who can carry out the majority of the work themselves, while bringing in or working alongside specialist trades when required.
You do not need to be able to do every trade. For example, if you can do most aspects of a refurbishment but don't plaster, aren't comfortable with electrical work, or require a specialist for certain jobs, that's absolutely fine.
What matters is that you are a highly capable all-rounder who can get on with a refurbishment independently.

The work can include:
- First-fix plumbing
- General plumbing and repairs
- First-fix electrical work
- Basic electrical work and repairs
- Joinery
- Kitchen fitting
- Bathroom fitting
- Door fitting
- Skirting boards and architraves
- Plasterboarding
- Plastering
- Tiling
- Flooring
- Painting and decorating
- General building work
- Property repairs and maintenance
- Finishing and snagging
Gas work is not required.
The ideal person
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working on residential properties
- Is genuinely multi-skilled
- Can complete several different trades to a good standard
- Can work independently without constant supervision
- Is reliable and turns up when agreed
- Takes pride in their work
- Works efficiently and keeps jobs moving
- Is practical and good at solving problems
- Can identify what needs doing and get on with it
- Has their own tools and transport, ideally
- Can work well alongside other trades when specialist work is required
You don't have to be a qualified expert in every trade.
If you can do 70–90% of a typical refurbishment yourself and know when to bring in a specialist for the remaining work, you could be exactly who we're looking for.
The work
You will be working on residential properties across Gateshead, Newcastle, Sunderland and surrounding areas.
Properties can range from general maintenance jobs through to full house refurbishments, including kitchens, bathrooms, joinery, flooring, decorating and general building work.
We want someone who can take responsibility for their work and help get properties finished to a good standard and ready to let.
