City & County Graphics Ltd is a leading provider of high-quality, innovative signage solutions. We help businesses — from top property developers and premium housebuilders to renowned blue-chip brands — make a lasting visual impact.
We are seeking a skilled, hands-on CNC Router & Laser Operator to join our production team. You will run our CNC routing and digital cutting equipment alongside our laser cutter, taking printed and raw sheet materials through to accurately finished components. Between machine runs you'll work alongside the wider workshop team on fabrication, assembly and finishing — so we're looking for someone who is as comfortable with a rivet gun as they are at a control console.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Set up, calibrate and operate CNC routers, digital flatbed cutters and laser cutting equipment across a wide range of rigid and flexible substrates.
- File Preparation: Import, nest and prepare cutting files from supplied artwork, setting correct tooling, feeds, speeds and cut depths for the material in hand.
- Tooling & Maintenance: Change and maintain router bits and cutting tools, manage laser optics and extraction, and carry out routine daily, weekly and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.
- Quality Assurance: Check first-offs and monitor runs throughout, catching registration drift, edge quality issues, chipping or scorching before they reach the next stage.
- Material Handling: Select, load and manage substrates including ACM/Dibond, acrylic, foamex, timber sheet, correx and printed vinyl, working efficiently to maximise sheet yield and reduce waste.
- Workshop Support: Assist with fabrication, assembly, applying vinyl, trimming, packing and loading as production demands require.
- Health & Safety: Work safely around powered machinery, extraction and laser equipment, keeping the work area clean and tidy at all times.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven Track Record: Minimum of 2–3 years' hands-on experience operating CNC routing or digital cutting equipment, ideally within signage, display or a comparable production environment.
- Software Proficiency: Confident with CAM/cutting software (e.g. AXYZ, Zünd Cut Center, Aspire/VCarve, EnRoute or similar) and comfortable handling vector files in Adobe Illustrator or AutoCAD.
- Technical Expertise: Sound understanding of tooling selection, cut strategies and how different substrates behave under router and laser.
- Practical Ability: A genuine all-rounder who is happy to muck in with fabrication and general workshop tasks when the machines aren't running.
- Attention to Detail: Accurate, methodical and able to work to tight tolerances and tighter deadlines.
- Location Constraint: Must live within a 15-mile radius of our Oxfordshire facility to support operational flexibility.
