Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Network Systems Engineer to join our innovative IT team. In this pivotal role, you will design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructure to ensure seamless connectivity, security, and high availability across our organization.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage enterprise network architecture including LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching), and SD-WAN solutions to ensure reliable connectivity across all locations.
- Configure and maintain network security devices such as firewalls (Cisco ASA), VPNs, IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), and implement encryption protocols like IPsec and SSL to safeguard organizational data.
- Support and troubleshoot network infrastructure components including Cisco routers, switches, Juniper devices, and wireless access points to maintain optimal performance.
- Administer network services such as DNS (Domain Name System), DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), Active Directory, LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), and PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) for secure user authentication and resource management.
- Monitor network health using tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, Splunk, and SolarWinds to proactively identify issues and execute timely resolutions.
- Automate routine tasks using scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, or Ansible to enhance efficiency in system administration and network management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on network installation projects, system upgrades, virtualization initiatives utilizing VMware vSphere or Hyper-V, and cloud integrations with Azure or AWS.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in computer networking with a strong understanding of TCP/IP protocols, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), VLANs, QoS, load balancing techniques, and high availability configurations.
- Hands-on expertise with Cisco ISE for identity services management; Cisco ASA firewalls; Juniper devices; and other enterprise-grade networking hardware.
- Knowledge of telecommunication systems including VoIP technologies, SFTP/FTP/HTTPS protocols for secure data transfer, and remote access software solutions.
- Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows Server environments, Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian), Solaris, macOS, openSUSE; along with virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere or Citrix.
- Strong skills in network security practices including encryption standards; SSO integrations; EIGRP/EIGRP routing; MPLS networks; DNS/DHCP management; LDAP authentication; and implementing security policies aligned with ITIL frameworks.
- Ability to develop scripts for automation using Bash or PowerShell; experience with DevOps tools like Ansible is a plus.
Pay: £56,000.00 per year
