Job Overview
We are an innovative SME designing and developing our own electronic lighting control products, and we’re looking for a talented R&D Manager to lead our engineering function. This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for driving product innovation, managing a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring successful delivery from concept through to manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the R&D team across electronics, firmware, and product development.
- Oversee full lifecycle development of lighting control products.
- Plan and manage project schedules, timescales, and resource allocation.
- Manage the NPI process and collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure smooth product transition into production.
- Manage the compliance process including EMC, safety, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Operations, Quality, and Manufacturing.
- Liaise with the Finance Department concerning submissions for R&D Tax Credits.
- Drive continuous improvement, technical innovation, and best engineering practices.
About You
- Experienced in electronics product development—ideally lighting controls, IoT or power electronics.
- Strong knowledge of analogue/digital design, embedded systems, and communication protocols (e.g., DALI, 1-10v, DMX, Ethernet, Zigbee, Bluetooth).
- Proven leadership in guiding engineering teams and managing multiple projects.
- Familiar with DfM, DfT, and regulatory compliance for electronic devices.
- Degree in Electronics Engineering or related field.
