The Opportunity
An established accountancy practice based in Gosforth is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its growing team.
This role is suitable for a Part-Qualified Accountant, Qualified by Experience (QBE) Accountant, or Fully Qualified Accountant with previous experience managing a portfolio of clients within an accountancy practice environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of clients across a variety of sectors
- Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
- Preparing and reviewing management accounts
- Completing VAT returns and ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements
- Preparing corporation tax and self-assessment tax returns
- Providing bookkeeping support and reviewing financial records
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients and building strong professional relationships
- Liaising with HMRC and other external stakeholders
- Providing proactive advice and support to clients on financial and business matters
- Assisting with the development and mentoring of junior team members where required
Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
- Experience managing a portfolio of clients
- Strong knowledge of accounts preparation and taxation
- Experience preparing VAT returns and management accounts
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively under pressure
Qualifications
- Applications are welcomed from:
- ACCA, ACA or AAT Part-Qualified Accountants
- Qualified by Experience (QBE) Accountants
- Fully Qualified Accountants (ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
Desirable
- Experience using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero and QuickBooks
- Experience reviewing the work of junior staff
- Experience working with owner-managed businesses
