HOURS: Based on 5 days out of 7, including weekend work
LOCATION: Galgorm (Ballymena)
SALARY: £40,000 to £45,000 per annum
About the role:
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Laundry Manager to join our Laundry team. Your main responsibility will be to support the Laundry Manager in the day-to-day management of the laundry department, ensuring high standards of service, productivity and efficiency are consistently achieved. You will assist with staff supervision, training, workflow planning and stock control while taking operational responsibility for the department in the absence of the Laundry Manager. Working closely with the Laundry Manager, you will help drive performance and ensure the smooth running of this busy department.
Working in the Laundry at Galgorm you’ll be filling orders for Galgorm Collection. The Resort is home to 125 guestrooms, self-catering accommodation, several restaurants, and our Award Winning Thermal Village, as well as our other sites in the Collection; The Rabbit Hotel & Retreat, The Old Inn, Roe Valley Resort, Parisien & Fratelli Belfast.
The Laundry department can be very busy at times and this role is quite physically demanding but you will work alongside a supportive team keeping the laundry store organised, well-stocked & ensuring that all linen is cleaned and pressed to a high standard. The successful applicant will have the ability to work well under pressure and have a driven attitude to complete tasks in a timely manner.
The Position:
The main responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to;
- Assist the Laundry Manager in overseeing the team of Laundry Assistants to achieve operational standards and departmental objectives.
- Support the day-to-day management of the laundry department, ensuring productivity and quality targets are met.
- Take responsibility for the laundry operation in the absence of the Laundry Manager.
- Assist with staff scheduling, rota planning and allocation of daily workloads.
- Support recruitment, induction, training and development of laundry team members.
- Monitor team performance and provide guidance and support to ensure high standards are maintained.
- Monitor and record all linen in and out of the laundry and investigate discrepancies where required.
- Assist in managing laundry stock levels, ordering requirements and regular stock counts.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and departmental processes.
- Ensure all equipment is operated correctly and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Be fully conversant and comply with health, safety, hygiene, fire and security regulations and procedures, ensuring team compliance at all times.
- Maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
- Be familiar with all operational equipment and chemicals used in the laundry department.
- Carry out any other duties as requested by Department Heads or Management.
The Person:
Applicants must:
- Previous experience working in a Laundry Department.
- Previous supervisory experience
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- trong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
- Display a flexible and proactive work approach.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Experience of staff training, delegation and performance management
