The Catholic Music Director will lead and support the musical and vocal elements of the Catholic Mass, working closely with the Catholic Chaplain to provide a professional, engaging, and liturgically appropriate music program. You will lead congregational music and cantoring, providing arranged, improvised, or scored music as appropriate to the Mass or other Catholic chapel programs. You will also help train volunteers to confidently support congregational singing and other musical elements of worship.
You will support regular Sunday Masses as well as special services and holy days and coordinate rehearsals around volunteer availability. Because of the nature of chapel services, some work will take place outside normal weekday operating hours.
You will recruit, develop, and coordinate choir volunteers, maintaining sufficient participation and scheduling volunteers to support services consistently. You will conduct weekly rehearsals to prepare the choir and other musicians for upcoming services.
You will maintain a diverse Catholic music repertoire that balances traditional and contemporary selections while remaining appropriate to Catholic liturgical practices. You will ensure music materials are used in accordance with applicable copyright requirements.
