Mechanical Inspector – CMM / 5-Axis Precision Engineering
About the Company
We are a small, highly efficient and technically focused CNC machining business based in Guildford, Surrey.
We specialise in 5-axis precision machining, producing high-quality metallic components across industries including Formula 1, motorsport and automotive.
We're a hands-on engineering business where attention to detail, technical ability and quality genuinely matter. Due to continued growth, we're looking for an experienced Mechanical Inspector with CMM experience to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with high-precision components and wants to be part of a technically advanced, close-knit manufacturing environment.
The Role
As Mechanical Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that components manufactured to demanding customer specifications meet the required dimensional and quality standards.
You'll work closely with our machining and engineering team, carrying out inspection throughout the manufacturing process and helping to ensure that only parts meeting our exacting standards reach the customer.
The role will include:
- Carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision-machined components.
- Operating and programming CMM equipment to accurately inspect complex components.
- Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings, CAD information and specifications.
- Working confidently with GD&T and tight dimensional tolerances.
- Using conventional inspection equipment including micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, height gauges and other precision measuring equipment.
- Producing clear and accurate inspection reports and quality documentation.
- Identifying and recording non-conforming components.
- Working with machinists and engineers to investigate dimensional issues and resolve problems.
- Supporting continuous improvement within the machining and inspection processes.
- Maintaining a high standard of traceability and quality throughout the manufacturing process.
