The Happy Mutt Company is a growing food-production bakery based on Heathfield Industrial Estate, Newton Abbot. We manufacture a range of natural dog food and treats for our own brand and other leading pet-food companies.
We are looking for reliable, hardworking people to join our afternoon/evening production and packing team.
This is a practical, hands-on role working as part of a small team in a busy bakery. Full training will be provided, although previous experience in food production, manufacturing, packing, warehousing, catering or commercial kitchens would be useful.
Your duties will include:
- Weighing and preparing ingredients
- Following standardised recipes and production instructions
- Mixing, baking and cooling products
- Operating bakery and packing machinery following training
- Packing, weighing and labelling finished products
- Completing production and traceability paperwork accurately
- Checking products meet the required quality standards
- Cleaning machinery, equipment and production areas
- Following food-safety, hygiene, allergen and health-and-safety procedures
- Helping the team achieve daily production targets
The successful candidate will:
- Be reliable, punctual and prepared to work hard
- Work well as part of a small, fast-paced team
- Be comfortable performing repetitive and physical tasks
- Be able to lift and carry ingredients, trays and finished products safely
- Have good basic numeracy skills
- Be able to follow recipes and written instructions accurately
- Be willing to learn how to operate production machinery
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene
Previous food-production experience or a food-hygiene qualification would be an advantage but is not essential.
