An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Support Worker in Arena Community Supported Accommodation. We have five supported properties in and around Ilkeston with both male and female clients who are classed as low to medium risk. The role will involve working with individuals who may have been homeless, have addictions and issues relating to mental health and well being.
We are looking for someone who has a passion for working with vulnerable and misunderstood people and making a difference in the local community. This is a challenging role that involves a broad range of tasks. Experience in working with vulnerable adults or in a similar setting is desirable.
The position is for 12 hours per week 2 shifts of 6 hours. Candidates must be flexible and available to work Monday to Friday, with some occasional Saturdays and bank holiday Mondays on a rota basis. The job may also include some evening or night time call outs. Candidates must have their own car and would ideally possess basic IT skills along with good listening and communication skills. The successful candidate will be expected to have a DBS check.
Salary-£12.71 to be reviewed after probationary period.
The candidate will be expected to:-
Meet with tenants, supporting and encouraging them.
- Will report to the Community Manager and will provide cover for holidays and sick leave.
- Assisting tenants with their specific needs such as taking them shopping or helping with money management.
- Accompanying tenants to appointments such as hospital, court etc.
- Encouraging tenants to engage with other support agencies where necessary.
- Completing reports on tenants.
- Liaising with other agencies.
- House inspections.
- Assist with gardening, decorating and upkeep of houses.
- Ensuring health and safety systems are being adhered to.
- Assisting with form filling and paperwork for tenants.
- Getting rooms ready for new tenants.
- Other ad hoc tasks may be required within Arena Community.
