Bar Manager – Two-Site Hospitality Role
Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, energetic and commercially minded Bar Manager to help lead operations across two busy hospitality sites.
This isn’t a role for someone who simply wants to manage a rota and keep the bar running. We are looking for someone with passion, drive and ideas who wants to help us grow the businesses and create pubs that people genuinely want to visit.
We currently operate across two sites, but our ambition is to continue growing, and two sites today could become four sites within the next year. We want to build a management team that can grow with us.
Our philosophy is simple: revenue and the customer come first. We do not turn custom away. We want managers who look for ways to say yes, solve problems and maximise every opportunity.
Our newest site will have a strong focus on competitive socialising, events and entertainment. We want to bring back the fun atmosphere of pubs while creating modern venues that give customers more reasons to visit and stay longer.
You will be trusted to operate with a high level of independence. We expect you to be your own boss, take ownership of your sites and have the passion and drive to improve them.
Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate bar and hospitality teams across both sites, delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high operating standards.
- Take ownership of the day-to-day operation of the venues rather than waiting to be told what needs doing.
- Maintain a revenue-first mentality, ensuring we maximise trading opportunities and do everything reasonably possible to accommodate customers rather than turning business away.
- Continually look for ways to improve sales, customer experience, efficiency and profitability.
- Bring forward ideas for new events, promotions, entertainment and competitive socialising concepts that can increase footfall and revenue.
- Manage bar operations, food service and customer-facing teams to ensure smooth service, particularly during busy trading periods.
- Create and manage staff rotas, training and performance while building a positive and accountable team culture.
- Communicate effectively between both sites, management and staff. With operations spread across multiple venues, strong communication is essential.
- Maintain compliance with licensing, food safety, health and safety requirements and company procedures.
- Monitor stock, ordering, wastage and costs while protecting margins and identifying opportunities to increase revenue.
- Deal confidently with customer enquiries and complaints and make sensible decisions without needing constant management approval.
- Help develop systems and procedures that can be replicated as the business expands to additional sites.
Skills & Experience
- Previous management or supervisory experience within pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels or hospitality.
- Strong leadership skills and the confidence to manage teams across more than one location.
- Computer literate, with the ability to confidently use EPOS/till systems, booking systems, email, spreadsheets and other hospitality software.
- Commercially aware with an understanding that increasing sales and controlling costs are both fundamental to running a successful pub.
- A forward-thinking approach and the ability to identify opportunities to improve the venues rather than simply maintaining the status quo.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A genuine can-do attitude and willingness to find solutions when problems arise.
- Confidence generating and implementing ideas for events, promotions and new revenue streams.
- Experience with bar operations, drinks service and hospitality service standards.
- Knowledge of food service, food safety and kitchen operations would be beneficial.
- Experience working across multiple hospitality sites would be advantageous.
The Person We Want
We aren’t looking for someone who needs to be micromanaged.
We want someone who walks into a venue and naturally thinks:
How can we make this busier? How can we make it better? What can we do differently?
You should be comfortable making decisions, leading from the front and taking responsibility for results.
We want to build a team of people who believe pubs should be busy, social and fun places to spend time. Events, games, competitive socialising and great hospitality will all be important parts of what we’re building.
There is significant opportunity to grow with the company. As we move from two venues to potentially four and beyond, we want the people who help us build the business now to have the opportunity to develop into more senior multi-site and operations roles in the future.
If you have the energy, ideas and drive to help us build something bigger, we’d love to hear from you.
Pay: £25,420.00-£31,000.00 per year
