Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Learner Mentor to support children with special educational needs, including those with autism and disabilities. This role involves working closely with learners to promote their development, independence, and confidence within an inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting children and young people, alongside relevant experience in special education settings. Duties
- Provide personalised support to learners with SEND, including those with autism and other disabilities, fostering their social, emotional, and educational development.
- Assist with daily activities and routines, including toddler care where applicable, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
- Implement tailored learning programmes and behavioural strategies under the guidance of teaching staff or specialists.
- Support learners during classroom activities, outings, and therapy sessions to promote engagement and participation.
- Monitor progress and behaviour, maintaining detailed records to inform ongoing support plans.
- Communicate effectively with learners, colleagues, and families to ensure consistent support and positive outcomes.
- Contribute to creating an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and promotes understanding among all learners.
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other special educational needs is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in teaching or supporting children within educational or care settings is advantageous.
- Knowledge of special education practices and strategies for supporting children with disabilities is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with learners, colleagues, and families.
- Compassionate approach with patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for supporting children's development.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic environment.
- Organised with excellent observational skills to monitor learner progress and behaviour effectively.

Pay: £24,000.00-£26,000.00 per year
