Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Woodworking CNC Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machinery specialised in woodworking processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude and experience in fabrication and materials handling to contribute to high-quality timber products. The position involves working with CAD programmes, programming CNC machines, and ensuring precise execution of design specifications. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of mechanical systems, tooling, and safety protocols within a workshop environment.
Duties
- Programme, set up, and operate CNC woodworking machines using CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks and other relevant programmes
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to produce accurate components
- Maintain and adjust programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to optimise machine performance
- Select appropriate tooling and fixtures for various projects, ensuring optimal operation
- Conduct routine inspections of machinery to identify maintenance needs or potential faults
- Handle materials efficiently, including loading raw timber and managing finished products
- Utilise hand tools for minor adjustments or assembly tasks when necessary
- Follow safety procedures diligently, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Assist with materials handling within the warehouse or workshop area, ensuring smooth workflow continuity
- Support assembly and finishing processes as required, including welding or other fabrication tasks
Experience
- Proven experience operating CNC machinery in a woodworking or manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of fabrication techniques, milling processes, and tooling management
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar programmes for design interpretation and programming
- Mechanical knowledge relating to machine maintenance and troubleshooting
- Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is desirable but not essential
- Ability to handle materials safely within a warehouse or workshop setting
- Competence in using hand tools and basic maths skills for measurements and calculations
- Previous experience is a must with an eye for detail
