This newly created role will focus on supporting patients prescribed Produodopa for symptom management as part of a specialist Parkinson's Disease Patient Support Programme.

We are seeking an experienced Parkinson's Disease Nurse who is committed to providing high-quality, safe, and evidence-based nursing care within patients' homes and, where required, in a clinic setting. The post holder will work as part of regional teams, supporting Clinical Team Managers and field-based nurses with the day-to-day delivery of the Parkinson's Disease and Produodopa Patient Support Programme. Acting as a visible and credible clinical leader, they will promote best practice, champion high standards of care, and ensure the safe and effective delivery of Produodopa therapy at all times.
The role encompasses both clinical and supervisory responsibilities. Clinically, the successful candidate will manage a caseload of patients living with Parkinson's Disease who are commencing or receiving Produodopa therapy under the care of their NHS Consultant. This caseload will involve patient assessments, treatment initiation, education, ongoing monitoring, and support throughout the treatment journey. The role requires autonomous practice and the confidence to deliver care independently within community and clinic settings.
A key element of the position is the education and training of patients and carers, ensuring they have the knowledge, understanding, and confidence to safely administer and manage Produodopa therapy. The post holder will undertake home visits, virtual appointments, telephone consultations, and clinic support as required, providing a personalised and patient-centred service designed to optimise treatment outcomes and improve quality of life.
Working closely with Clinical Team Managers, Regional Nursing Teams, NHS clinicians, specialist nurses, and pharmaceutical partners, the successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing development and success of the Parkinson's Disease Patient Support Programme. They will support compliance with service level agreements, contracts, company policies, and clinical governance requirements while ensuring a consistently high standard of patient care.
The post holder will also play an important role in supporting and developing the wider nursing workforce. This includes contributing to the design, implementation, and delivery of specialist Parkinson's Disease and Produodopa training programmes in partnership with the Learning and Development Team. They will assist with competency assessments, mentorship, coaching, and ongoing professional development activities to ensure staff have the skills and knowledge required to deliver safe and effective care.
Additional responsibilities will include supporting quality assurance and clinical governance activities, participating in audits, policy reviews, service evaluations, and competency programmes. The successful candidate will contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives and help ensure all aspects of care are delivered in accordance with current evidence-based practice, regulatory requirements, and the NMC Code.
The role requires accurate and contemporaneous clinical record keeping, effective communication with healthcare professionals, and the prompt escalation of any concerns relating to patient safety, treatment outcomes, or changes in clinical condition. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring all relevant Produodopa equipment and ancillary supplies are available and maintained appropriately for safe patient use.
Due to the nature of the role, significant travel is required across the assigned region, with visits taking place in patients' homes and occasionally in clinic environments. Overnight stays may occasionally be necessary to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
Essential Experience and Skills:

Desirable Experience:
- Minimum of five years' post-registration nursing experience, including dedicated experience within Parkinson's Disease, neurology, or a related specialist field.
- Experience working autonomously in a community or homecare setting.
- Experience with subcutaneous therapies, intravenous infusions, and phlebotomy.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or supporting junior colleagues.
- Experience delivering training and educational programmes using a variety of learning methods.
- Strong IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and electronic patient record systems.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development relevant to Parkinson's Disease, neurology, or specialist nursing practice.
- ENB 998, Practice Assessor qualification, or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively as required by the role.
