POSITION: Youth Worker (Mental Health - one to one and Group Work)
DURATION OF POST: 12 Months
HOURS: 37.5 Hours per week
YG’s core business hours are Monday-Friday 9-5.30pm however due to the nature and pressing need of our work all YG staff may be required to complete work outside of these hours.
SALARY: £26,330.00 - £28,430.00 per annum (pro rata)
HOLIDAY: 25 days per annum plus bank holidays
PENSION: Auto enrolment pension in place
RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Youth Worker
LOCATION: Your normal place of work will be one of the following offices.
- The Old Dock Office, Commercial Road, Glos, GL1 2EB,
- Graphic House, Greyfriars, Glos, GL1 1TS
- 16 Imperial Square, GL50 1QZ
but you agree to perform your duties in such other place or places as we may reasonably require from time to time.

JOB SUMMARY
This role will form a team within Young Gloucestershire that provides face to face, group work therapeutic and practical support to young people aged 11-25 with low mental health and wellbeing. The support will help young people overcome anxiety and build confidence, ensuring long term sustainable outcomes for young people. The team will work with young people from across the county both travelling to them in community settings and working from a central office hub.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- To work with young people 11-25 within a short term and longer-term model.
- To deliver a mental health support service that assists young people’s mental health.
- To deliver group sessions with young people, addressing anxiety and providing psychoeducation.
- Offer one-to-one support, enabling young people to attend groups/mental health support.
- To work closely alongside CAMHS
- To work with other organisation and agencies to ensure positive outcomes for young people.
- To provide a range of practical solutions to assist young people in sustained outcomes for their mental health, this includes addressing challenges with young people such as housing, relationships, debt, financial management, physical activity, education, and training.
- Find positive ways to engage young people to raise aspirations and long-term outcomes for a young person
- To advocate on behalf of the young person where needed with other agencies organisations
- To be the trusted person with a young person to ensure that a young person always has someone to turn to and engage with at a time of need
- Provide weekly consistent engagement and support for the young person
- To support young people with all areas of their mental health.
- To deliver therapeutic mental health support and advice.
- To support young people to engage in the wider Link, YG where appropriate.
- Undertake needs analysis with young people to identify their needs and refer to appropriate Young Gloucestershire services.
- To identify appropriate young people to complete qualifications to further their opportunities to positive progressions.
- Maintain a quality service to young people across all provision.
- To provide regular reporting on the activities’ progress.
- Carry out regular risk assessments of all activities prior to delivery.
- To ensure safeguarding of young people.
- To ensure the use of established recording and monitoring computerised systems using Upshot and other required systems.
- Assessing referrals that are received and identifying needs.
- Identifying what level of support is needed - low, medium, or high intervention.
GENERAL DUTIES
- Maintain a quality service to young people across all YG provision.
- Collect and review data ensuring projects are meeting KPI’s and project outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records/reports and ensure required paperwork is completed on time.
- To oversee the control, servicing and maintenance of equipment as relevant to your staff team.
- Take responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of young people with specific safeguarding duties.
