About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated Registered Manager to lead our Ofsted-registered children’s residential home in South Ockendon. The home provides high-quality care and support for up to two children and young people with emotional and/or behavioural difficulties (EBD).
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious manager who is committed to achieving positive outcomes for children while maintaining excellent standards of care and regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will lead a well-supported team, including a Deputy Manager and Senior Residential Support Workers, allowing the Registered Manager to focus on leadership, quality assurance, and service development.
Key Responsibilities
- Register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager and ensure full compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Provide effective leadership, supervision, and management to the staff team.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where children can thrive.
- Ensure each child has high-quality care plans and risk assessments that meet their individual needs.
- Promote positive outcomes in education, health, emotional wellbeing, and independence.
- Recruit, develop, and retain a skilled and motivated workforce.
- Conduct regular supervision, appraisals, and performance management.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding and child protection.
- Manage the home’s budget and resources effectively.
- Develop positive relationships with local authorities, social workers, families, schools, and external professionals.
- Ensure all records and reports are accurate and completed to a high standard.
- Lead inspections and drive continuous improvement to achieve and maintain Good or Outstanding Ofsted ratings.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within an Ofsted-registered children’s residential home.
- Proven track record of achieving positive Ofsted inspection outcomes.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards if applicable).
- Thorough understanding of Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and safeguarding legislation.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Experience supporting children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience managing a small therapeutic residential home.
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and trauma-informed care.
- Experience with commissioning and local authority placements.
