Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Senior Residential Child Care Worker to join our team in providing exceptional care and support to children and young people in a residential setting. In this vital role, you will lead and supervise a team of care workers, ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of the young residents. Your leadership will foster a nurturing environment where children feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. You will be responsible for implementing care plans, maintaining clear communication with colleagues and families, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team of care workers, providing guidance, mentorship, and leadership to ensure high-quality care delivery.
- Develop, review, and implement individualized care plans tailored to each child's needs, promoting their emotional, social, and developmental growth.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all residents by maintaining vigilant supervision and responding promptly to any concerns or incidents.
- Foster positive relationships with children through effective communication, active listening, and empathetic engagement.
- Coordinate activities, outings, and educational opportunities that enhance residents’ life skills and confidence.
- Maintain accurate documentation of daily routines, incident reports, progress notes, and care plan updates using IT systems efficiently.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, therapists, and families to support each child's overall development.
- Drive continuous improvement by participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and quality assurance processes.
Qualifications
- Proven supervising experience within a children's home or residential setting focused on senior care or child welfare.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
- Experience in developing and implementing care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise confidently with children, families, colleagues, and external agencies.
- Valid driving license with the ability to operate vehicles for outings or appointments as required.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, health & safety regulations, and relevant legislation governing residential childcare.
- Competent in using IT systems for record keeping and reporting purposes.
- Level 3 in residential childcare or equivilent
