Adur & Worthing Councils are looking for an Allotments Officer to deliver a great allotment service to the allotment tenants and volunteers. This role is central to driving continuous improvement of the allotment asset and will provide support during a transitional period to new ways of working.
As Allotments Officer you will have a genuine passion for self sufficiency, sustainability and gardening. You will support the Parks & Foreshore Service Manager during a transition phase to implement a new shared management model across 21 allotment sites in Adur & Worthing.
You will be calm, confident and highly organised. The role requires excellent communication and experience from a broad range of skills sets: strategic, administrative and practical.
Responsibilities will include coordination of the volunteers who support the allotments service and engagement with other members of the allotment community to promote the benefits of food cultivation.
You will also be required to manage the day to day functions of allotments sites and adapt to a variety of tasks such as procurement of services, collating evidence and writing reports and delivering an inspection programme.
This role plays a key part in setting up the future processes which will create a thriving asset for future generations. Your manager will empower you to apply our principles: resilience, adaptability and participation in your working practices.
We encourage you to apply if you have the skills and experience that can make a difference to this community.
