The Feline Hyperthyroid Clinic is a new referral centre dedicated entirely to cats. We provide exclusively radioiodine (I-131) treatment for cats with hyperthyroidism, and expect to open in mid September.
The Role
We are looking for a caring, reliable Patient Care Assistant to join our small clinical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Feeding, monitoring, and providing daily care for hospitalised cats
- Cleaning and maintaining kennels, treatment areas, and clinical equipment to a high standard
- Supporting the veterinary team with handling and restraint of cats for blood sampling and administration of radioiodine.
- Following radiation safety protocols and procedures for patients undergoing I-131 treatment (full training provided)
- Assisting with stock control, laundry, and general upkeep of the clinic
About You
- Previous experience in a veterinary, cattery, or animal care setting is desirable but not essential
- Calm, patient, and gentle cat handling skills
- A genuine love of cats
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a small team
- Comfortable following clear protocols, including those around radiation safety (full training will be given, no prior experience required)
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Must be over 18
What We Offer
- Full training, including radiation safety training specific to our I-131 treatment protocols
- £15ph, 20 hours a week guaranteed with likelihood of increasing to full time as the caseload increases
- Working hours are between 9-5, with occasional weekend work, and there is some flexibility with hours offered
- Please note as much as we would like to, we cannot offer veterinary nurse training because of the nature of our caseload
