The Cornish Arms Group is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Chef de Partie to join our kitchens and be part of a team delivering high-quality, produce-led food.
At the heart of the group is The Cornish Arms, Tavistock – an award-winning gastropub known for its seasonal menus and consistent standards. Alongside it sits The Blacksmiths Arms, Lamerton, a busy village pub focused on honest, well-executed dishes.
We have recently launched our third site, The Ring of Bells, North Bovey, making this an exciting time to join a growing and ambitious business.
This is a hands-on role for a chef who takes pride in their section, wants to develop their skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment.
The Role ~
As Chef de Partie, you’ll take ownership of your section—delivering consistency, maintaining standards, and supporting the wider team through service and prep.
Key Responsibilities ~
- Run and manage your section during prep and service
- Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation
- Ensure your mise en place is organised, prepped, and ready for service
- Work efficiently during busy services while maintaining attention to detail
- Support stock rotation, ordering, and waste control within your section
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards at all times
- Assist with training junior chefs and maintaining a positive team environment
- Work closely with the wider kitchen team to ensure smooth service
What We’re Looking For ~
- Experience as a Chef de Partie or strong Commis Chef ready to step up
- Passion for fresh, seasonal produce and modern pub cooking
- Good understanding of kitchen prep, organisation, and service flow
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to perform under pressure in a busy kitchen
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
- A team player who takes pride in their work
