The Role
We are seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator to join our team.
The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
· Read and interpret blueprints to Fabricate steel and aluminium structures for solar PV mounting frames and canopy systems
· Weld steel and aluminium components using MIG and TIG welding techniques (Stick welding is a plus)
· Operate fabrication tools and machines such as saws, grinders, drills, and presses
· Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment and tools safely and effectively
· Measure and cut metal parts to required dimensions using hand tools, plasma cutters, and metal saws
· Calculate dimensions and mark out components based on project drawings and technical specs
· Align, clamp, and tack parts prior to welding to ensure accurate assembly
· Inspect and test welds to ensure strength, accuracy, and quality compliance
· Perform repairs or rework on welds and metal components when required
· Maintain a clean and safe working environment and follow company health & safety policies
· Work closely with supervisors, and design teams to prepare components for installation
· Ability to read and work from technical drawings and measurement specs
· Good understanding of structural steel and component alignment
· Physically fit and comfortable working with large materials and equipment
· Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision
· Commitment to health & safety practices and use of PPE
· Read and interpret technical drawings, cutting lists, and technical diagrams
· Measure, mark, and cut metal components accurately to specified dimensions
· Drill, grind, and finish metal parts to prepare them for assembly or welding
· Assemble components using bolts, clamps, and welding as required
· Operate fabrication tools and machines such as saws, grinders, drills, and presses
· Inspect fabricated parts to ensure quality, alignment, and compliance with specifications
· Maintain a clean and safe working environment and follow company health & safety policies
· Support loading and offloading of fabricated structures for transport to site
Essential Skills:
· Proven experience as a welder (2+ years preferred)
· Strong ability to work from blueprints and technical specifications
· Proficient in MIG and TIG welding (experience with Stick welding is a plus)
· Good knowledge of materials and welding properties (e.g. mild steel, aluminium)
· Experience using grinders, plasma cutters, measuring tools, and clamps
· Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision
· Commitment to health & safety practices and use of PPE
· Certification in welding or completion of apprenticeship (desirable but not essential)
Other
· Must be legally entitled to work in the UK and/or EU and be fluent in English.
· Flexibility to travel to project sites in for when required.
