Job Title: Manufacturing Operative
Line Manager: Mixing Supervisor
Summary of Duties:
· Follow approved batch cards and production instructions to manufacture Resincoat products accurately, consistently and safely, ensuring all required quality checkpoints are completed and recorded.
· Support production priorities and stock availability so finished goods are ready for customer orders to be dispatched on time and in full. Products must be 'fit to pick' and pass required quality checks and testing.
· Record production activity, materials used and batch information accurately on Company systems, including Orderwise, so system records reflect the true status of production.
· Work responsibly with chemicals, raw materials and manufacturing equipment, following all Health & Safety, COSHH, PPE and site procedures at all times.
· Take personal responsibility for safe working practices, product quality, housekeeping and promptly reporting any hazard, defect, discrepancy or unsafe condition.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Machinery Operation:
· Operate manufacturing machinery and equipment only when trained and authorised, following approved operating procedures and safety instructions.
· Complete required pre-use and due-diligence checks and immediately report damaged, defective or unsafe equipment to the Technical Manager.
· Do not bypass guards, safety devices or established procedures, and stop work if equipment or the working environment is unsafe.
Health, Safety & COSHH Adherence:
· Follow all Company Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments, safe systems of work, COSHH requirements and relevant Safety Data Sheet (SDS) instructions.
· Wear and maintain the correct PPE for the task and ensure PPE requirements are followed whenever handling chemicals, raw materials or operating machinery.
· Use safe manual-handling techniques and approved equipment when moving, lifting or handling materials and finished goods.
· Immediately report accidents, near misses, spills, hazards, unsafe behaviour and damaged equipment, and follow the correct containment or escalation procedure.
· Maintain a clean, organised and obstruction-free work area, with materials, chemicals, waste and tools stored or disposed of safely and correctly.
· Take responsibility for your own safety and that of colleagues by challenging unsafe practices and escalating concerns where appropriate.
Material Handling & Production Control:
- Handle raw materials, components and finished products using appropriate tools and equipment, in accordance with COSHH and Health & Safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used and products produced, and promptly alert the Technical Manager to shortages, discrepancies or stock issues that could affect production.
- Ensure materials and components are correctly identified before use and are handled in a way that protects product quality and traceability.
Weighing and Measuring Components:
· Accurately weigh and measure raw materials and components required for resin products in line with the batch card, formulation and production specification.
· Check measurements and component selections carefully before use and report any discrepancy immediately rather than proceeding with an incorrect batch.
Mixing, Quality & Production Process:
· Carry out scheduled mixing of resin products as directed by the Technical Manager and in accordance with approved batch instructions.
· Complete and record required quality checks and testing accurately, and escalate any product, material or process concern before the batch progresses.
· Work efficiently while maintaining safety, quality and accuracy; production targets must never take priority over safe working practices or product standards.
Orderwise, Operations Hub & IT:
· Use Orderwise, and other Company systems accurately to record production activity, batch information, materials used and relevant works-order progress as required.
· Ensure system entries are completed promptly and accurately so stock, traceability and production information reflect the physical position on the shop floor.
· Report system errors, incorrect information or discrepancies to the Technical Manager rather than making assumptions or leaving records incomplete.
· Develop and maintain the basic IT skills required to use Company systems confidently and follow the correct process after training.
Skills, Behaviours and Qualifications:
· A strong safety-first mindset and willingness to follow procedures consistently, including COSHH, PPE and safe systems of work.
· Reliable, punctual and dependable, with a responsible approach to attendance and completing the full Monday-Friday shift pattern.
· Excellent attention to detail, particularly when weighing materials, following batch instructions, completing checks and recording information.
· Able to work accurately at pace without compromising safety or quality.
· Confident communicating concerns, asking questions when unsure and speaking up if something does not look safe or correct.
· A positive team player who can also work responsibly on their own initiative and take ownership of assigned tasks.
· Good organisational skills with the ability to follow priorities and maintain a clean, disciplined working area.
· Numerically confident and comfortable working with weights, measures and production quantities.
· Basic IT skills and a willingness to learn and use Orderwise, and other Company systems accurately.
· Previous manufacturing, production, chemical-handling or warehouse experience is advantageous, but the right attitude, reliability and commitment to safe working are essential.
Working Conditions:
· The role involves manual handling, lifting, standing for extended periods and working with manufacturing equipment, raw materials and chemicals.
· The work is carried out in a manufacturing/warehouse environment and requires consistent compliance with PPE, COSHH and site Health & Safety requirements.
· The standard shift pattern for this role is Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.
