Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.00pm
Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum, depending on experience
The Wilkin family have been farming at Tiptree, Essex, since 1757, and making quality preserves here since 1885. We grow a wide range of traditional English fruits and use them to make conserves, condiments, and other treats in our nut free factory by the farm. Our products are made to cherished recipes and are free from artificial colours and flavours. We supply an extensive range of products to over sixty countries across the world, and are available in fine retailers, premium hotels, and quality airlines.
Job Summary
We are seeking an organised, approachable and experienced HR Officer to join our busy HR team. The successful candidate will provide practical and professional HR support across the organisation, working closely with managers and employees to ensure HR matters are handled fairly, consistently and in line with company policies and UK employment legislation. This is a varied role, suitable for an individual who enjoys supporting people, maintaining accurate records, preparing professional documentation and contributing to a positive working environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide clear, professional and confidential HR advice to managers and employees.
- Support employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, capability, performance and absence management.
- Assist managers with HR processes to ensure matters are handled fairly, consistently and in line with company policy.
- Prepare HR correspondence, meeting notes, outcome letters and other employee documentation.
- Support recruitment activity including adverts, shortlisting, interviews, offers and onboarding.
- Maintain accurate HR records and support compliance with GDPR and employment legislation.
- Contribute to HR projects, policy reviews and process improvements.
- Work closely with the wider HR team to provide an efficient and supportive service across the business.
About you:
- Previous experience in a generalist HR role, ideally with exposure to employee relations casework.
- Good working knowledge of HR processes, employment legislation and best practice.
- CIPD Level 3 qualification or equivalent HR experience.
- Desirable: CIPD Level 5 qualification or working towards this.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to communicate professionally at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate and confidential records.
- A calm, fair and practical approach when supporting sensitive HR matters.
- Good organisation skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
