Overview
We are looking for a compassionate, reliable and dedicated Night Care Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a client living with dementia in their own home. This is a rewarding opportunity to help someone remain safe, comfortable and independent in familiar surroundings while delivering person-centred care during overnight hours.
You will play a vital role in providing reassurance, promoting dignity, and responding sensitively to the changing needs of someone living with dementia. If you are caring, patient and committed to delivering exceptional care, we would love to hear from you.
Hours
Hours are slightly different from the normal waking night shift as the client's family only want someone to work 5 hours per night which are 11.00 - 04.00, though there is some flexibility in these hours.
Duties
- Provide compassionate overnight care and support in the client's own home.
- Monitor the client's wellbeing throughout the night, ensuring their safety, comfort and security.
- Assist with personal care, including toileting, continence care, dressing and hygiene, while maintaining dignity and respect.
- Offer reassurance and emotional support if the client becomes anxious, confused or disorientated during the night.
- Support safe mobility, repositioning and transfers where required, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Follow the client's personalised care plan and respond appropriately to any changes in their condition.
- Administer or prompt medication where trained and authorised.
- Keep accurate records of care provided, observations and any incidents or concerns.
- Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable home environment throughout the shift.
- Communicate effectively with family members, colleagues and the wider healthcare team to ensure continuity of care.
Requirements
- Has a kind, patient and compassionate approach to supporting people living with dementia.
- Has previous experience in care, preferably supporting people in their own homes or those living with dementia
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can work confidently and independently during overnight shifts.
- Is dependable, trustworthy and committed to providing high-quality, person-centred care.
- Has good written English and basic IT skills for recording care notes.
- Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle due to location and shift times
- Is flexible to work waking night shifts, including weekends and public holidays on a rota basis.
