Workshop & Stores Assistant
Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Workshop & Stores Assistant to join our team. This workshop-based role supports the smooth running of our equipment preparation, stores, and showroom operations across our two sites. You will be responsible for getting machines ready for sale, keeping stock and the showroom in order, managing purchasing enquiries, and supporting our engineering team in the workshop.
P C Jones is a family-run supplier of industrial cleaning equipment, established in 1982 and an authorised Kärcher dealer. We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of technology in our industry, from robotic cleaning equipment to AI-driven systems, all of which you will work with day to day. This is a paid position with full in-house training and manufacturer training courses provided, offering an excellent opportunity to develop a broad skill set across equipment, stock control, purchasing, and workshop support within a dynamic industrial setting.
This is not an on-site customer-facing engineering role. All work is based in our two sites.
Duties
- Carry out pre-delivery inspection (PDI) on machines as they arrive
- Unbox, prep and finish machines ready for sale
- Set up and maintain the showroom, keeping displays and stock presentable
- Keep product information, specifications and pricing up to date
- Carry out regular stock checks and maintain accurate stock records
- Track hire equipment levels and availability
- Place stock orders with suppliers and manage the purchasing inbox, handling enquiries from suppliers and customers
- Maintain stock and hire data on our website and internal management systems
- Support the engineering team with service work and machine preparation in the workshop
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the workshop and storage areas in line with health and safety standards
Skills and experience
- Practical and hands-on, comfortable working in a workshop environment
- Organised, with strong attention to detail in stock control and record keeping
- Confident using computers, email and online systems for stock and admin
- Clear communicator, able to deal with suppliers and customers professionally
- Reliable and willing to learn the trade
- Full UK driver's licence preferred; however, transport links to the Business Park are available
Training and development
- Full in-house induction and ongoing training
- Manufacturer training courses delivered by Kärcher to build product and service competency
- Hands-on workshop experience and genuine scope to develop your technical skills
- Salary reviewed as competency grows
Pay: £24,500.00-£26,500.00 per year
