Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise nursery staff, providing guidance, support, and ongoing training to ensure effective team performance
- Oversee daily nursery operations, including planning activities and managing resources efficiently
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and childcare regulations
- Develop and implement educational programmes that promote children's development across all areas
- Maintain strong communication with parents and carers regarding children's progress, wellbeing and welfare requirements
- Manage administrative tasks such as staffing rotas, record keeping, and budgeting
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages learning, creativity, and socialisation among children
- Organise staff meetings, appraisals, and professional development sessions to promote continuous improvement
- Drive the nurseries ethos of child-centred care while maintaining high standards of professionalism
Skills
- Proven management experience within a nursery or early childhood setting
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Deep understanding of childcare practices and early childhood education principles
- Experience working directly with children and knowledge of child development stages
- Ability to organise workloads effectively whilst prioritising safety and quality standards
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine passion for working with children and their families
