OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST REQUIRED – Newly Qualified Opportunity or Previous Experience

CHD Rehabilitation services are seeking an experienced and highly motivated occupational therapist for our Neurorehabilitation Centre based in Bagshot, Surrey.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist multidisciplinary team to develop your skills in neuro rehabilitation. You will work alongside highly specialist physiotherapists, speech and language therapist, Clinical Psychologist, specialist nurses, a neuro rehabilitation consultant and rehabilitation assistants.
At CHD we deliver comprehensive, neurological rehabilitation packages which include complex nursing care, intensive therapy packages, long term disability management and slow-stream rehabilitation. This is an opportunity to work with a diverse and complex caseload, which include individuals with prolonged disorders of consciousness, traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury and progressive neurological conditions.
The post holder will deliver a wide range of assessment and interventions including complex postural management, ADL rehabilitation, upper limb rehabilitation, cognitive rehabilitation, community reintegration and complex discharge planning.
You will have an opportunity to participate in regular in-service training, with access to specialist courses as required to meet your personal development plan. You will be supervised by an experienced Occupational Therapist and supported by the onsite multi-disciplinary team.
This post is suitable for a newly qualified occupational therapist due to the level of training and support on offer from an experienced multidisciplinary team. It also offers an opportunity to work with a range of conditions; supporting the candidates clinical competence, in the early part of their career. A preceptorship programme will be offered for the first 12 months in post, in order to provide a framework for support and development.
We are also keen to hear from more experienced OT’s who are looking to specialise in neurorehabilitation. Please note that the starting salary will be adjusted in accordance with the successful candidates experience.
What you will need:
- Professional Qualification – BSc/MSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Current HCPC registration
- Either a range of post graduate OT experience in a variety of relevant core specialties, or well-rounded student placement experience
- Experience at Band 5 level or equivalent (if seeking a more experienced role)
- Experience of working within an MDT
- Comprehensive experience of working as an OT with patients with complex conditions
- High level specialist assessment, management & treatment skills
- Good clinical reasoning skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to present complex information in a comprehensible way
- Good teaching ability and education experience to provide training to carers and nursing staff
