Ian Mosey (Livestock) Ltd. is a family owned and operated business whose principal activity is contract finishing pigs for the UK pork industry. We produce piglets on our own breeding herds and purchase piglets from third party suppliers which are grown and finished on contract rearing farms in the North of England.
About the role
This is a fast-paced and varied role at the heart of our transport operation. You will be responsible for planning and supervising the daily and weekly movement of vehicles and drivers, ensuring that plans are practical, cost-effective and fully compliant with all legal and customer requirements.
Working closely with drivers, farmers, customers and field staff, you will provide clear communication, adapt to challenges in real time and help maintain the high standards of service and compliance expected across our business.

Key Responsibilities
- Scheduling vehicles and drivers on a daily and weekly basis, producing clear load plans and driver paperwork packs.
- Communicating plans effectively to drivers, farmers, customers and field staff, and updating stakeholders promptly when changes occur.
- Supervising drivers in real time using vehicle tracking systems, resolving delays and adapting plans to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Managing external hauliers, providing them with correct documentation and monitoring their progress.
- Ensuring drivers have all necessary customer and regulatory documents (e.g. pig movement licences, export declarations).
- Maintaining driver rotas, managing holiday cover and ensuring compliance with driver hours regulations and infringement procedures.
- Booking vehicle inspections, MOTs, maintenance and defect repairs with the in-house garage.
- Supporting the Transport Manager with compliance documentation.
- Creating and updating driver route risk assessments, and assisting the Health & Safety team with safe systems of work and SOPs.
Key Requirements
- Experience in transport planning, logistics coordination or a related operational role.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Good knowledge of transport compliance, including driver hours, vehicle maintenance requirements and relevant documentation.
- Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively with drivers, farmers, customers and colleagues using a variety of communication methods.
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt plans in real time and provide practical solutions to unforeseen challenges.
- IT skills, including use of vehicle tracking systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in planning, paperwork and compliance records.
