Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented MOT Tester/Mechanic to join our dynamic automotive team. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive MOT (Ministry of Transport) tests to assess vehicle safety, emissions, and roadworthiness in accordance with legal requirements
- Diagnose mechanical issues using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to identify necessary repairs or adjustments
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as brake repairs, tire replacements, oil changes, and suspension work
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to repair or replace faulty components efficiently and accurately
- Handle heavy lifting safely when moving or installing vehicle parts or equipment
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and service history for each vehicle
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company standards
Experience
- Proven experience as an MOT Tester or Automotive Mechanic with a strong understanding of vehicle systems and diagnostics
- Mechanical knowledge of engines, brakes, suspension, steering, and electrical systems
- Proficiency with hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and socket sets
- Familiarity with power tools used in automotive repair tasks
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining proper ergonomics during physical tasks
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship
- Strong communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to team members and customers
