Come and Coordinate the Chaos… the Good Kind!
1 Oak Chilton Club isn't your traditional day centre – and we're definitely not looking for a traditional coordinator.
We're looking for a fun, energetic, organised and people-focused Day Services Coordinator to take overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of our busy and thriving service.
You'll need to be someone who can manage a team, keep on top of budgets, paperwork and health & safety, adapt when plans inevitably change… and still find yourself wearing something ridiculous in the Christmas Panto.
Yes, participation in the Christmas Panto is practically essential!
Our members are at the heart of everything we do, and we want someone who can make sure the Chilton Club remains a place filled with friendship, laughter, activities, independence, choice and genuine connection.
What will you be doing?
As Day Services Coordinator, you'll have overall responsibility for the effective running of the Chilton Club, including:
- Leading, supporting and motivating the Day Services team.
- Coordinating the day-to-day operation of the service.
- Ensuring our members receive a welcoming, engaging and person-centred experience.
- Getting to know our members and understanding their individual needs, interests, abilities and preferences.
- Planning and coordinating activities, events, outings and special occasions.
- Encouraging the team to think creatively about activities and member engagement.
- Adapting the service as members' needs change.
- Maintaining clear, accurate and organised documentation.
- Ensuring appropriate risk assessments and safety measures are in place.
- Maintaining excellent standards of health & safety.
- Overseeing service finances and maintaining effective budgetary control.
- Monitoring expenditure and ensuring resources are used responsibly.
- Supporting staff performance, development and day-to-day management.
- Maintaining appropriate staffing levels and coordinating the team effectively.
- Communicating with families, professionals and other organisations where appropriate.
- Identifying opportunities to develop and improve the Chilton Club.
- Ensuring the service remains welcoming, inclusive, safe and – importantly – fun!
- Taking overall ownership of the service and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
And, of course…
Christmas Panto participation. Whether you're directing, organising, finding costumes, prompting from the sidelines or somehow ending up dressed as an elf – we expect enthusiasm!
Who are we looking for?
You don't necessarily need to have managed a day centre before. We're much more interested in finding someone with the right personality, organisational skills and leadership ability.
You'll ideally be:
- Fun, energetic and enthusiastic.
- Confident managing and motivating a team.
- Highly organised and able to prioritise.
- Comfortable overseeing budgets and finances.
- Confident maintaining clear and accurate records.
- Knowledgeable about, or willing to learn, relevant health & safety requirements.
- Creative and willing to bring new ideas to the service.
- Person-centred in everything you do.
- Comfortable communicating with members, families, staff and professionals.
- Able to remain calm when plans change.
- Proactive – someone who sees something that needs doing and gets on with it.
- Able to balance the serious responsibilities of running a service with creating an environment where people genuinely enjoy spending their time.
- Willing to get involved rather than managing from the sidelines.
The Important Bit
Our Chilton Club members aren't numbers on a spreadsheet.
They're individuals with different personalities, abilities, interests, needs and senses of humour. Some days will go exactly to plan. Other days, the carefully prepared activity might go completely out the window because our members have other ideas!
We're looking for someone who understands that good day services adapt around the people using them – not the other way around.
You'll have the freedom to bring ideas, personality and creativity to the role, while ensuring the service remains well organised, financially responsible, properly documented and safe.
