What are we looking for
Clarence House Day Nursery is a medium-sized nursery group with 15 nurseries in East Anglia and the East Midlands.
We’re looking for an experienced Nursery Manager to lead the team while our permanent manager is on maternity leave. You’ll work closely with our Operations Manager and bring the leadership, warmth and professionalism this team deserves.
Our Cambridge nursery is a warm, close-knit setting with 38 registered places — Ofsted rated Good, and backed by the infrastructure of a 15-nursery group.
That means government funding is handled centrally, prospective parent enquiries come through our central team, and you’ll have access to a shared document system and group-wide intranet from day one.
You will be working 42.5 hours a week, and your rate of pay will be from £36,000 to £39,000 a year, depending on experience.
This is a fixed-term contract with an immediate start which finishes on March 31st, 2027.

What you’ll be doing:
- Providing professional leadership and day-to-day management of the nursery
- Leading, supporting and developing your team — including training, retention and support
- Ensuring the highest standards of care, education and compliance at all times
- Managing budgets and occupancy effectively
- Building strong relationships with parents and the local community
- Working closely with our Operations Manager and central admin team
You need:
- At least 1 year’s experience as a Nursery Manager
- Minimum 4 years in a nursery setting
- A full and relevant Early Years qualification (held for at least 3 years)
- Strong communication, organisational and people management skills
