Nicol of Skene, a well-established civil engineering, multi-utility and directional drilling construction company based in Aberdeen is seeking an experienced and highly motivated HDD & Survey Engineer.
This is a unique opportunity to work in our Horizontal Directional Drilling department assisting and developing HDD designs & feasibility reports. Previous geotechnical, site engineering or land surveying experience, plus excellent working knowledge of CAD and Digital Terrain Software is required. Full training will be provided in HDD works.
The role is a full time, permanent position, based in our main office in Westhill, Aberdeenshire and covering our sites across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake topographical surveys and process survey data for design and construction purposes.
- Liaise with clients, utility owners, subcontractors, and site teams to obtain and verify project information.
- Review technical and construction information to produce accurate drawings including HDD bore profiles, layouts and as built records.
- Assist in the preparation of HDD feasibility studies, and technical reports.
- Carry out site visits to undertake surveys, verify design information, support and monitor project progress.
- Assist the QHSE team in undertaking risk assessments and preparing RAMS as required.
The Requirements:
- Minimum of HNC civil engineering qualification or equivalent working engineering/land surveying or geotechnical experience
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Packages, CAD and digital terrain software
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proactive and self-motivated
- Ability to think strategically and to assist in problem solving
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work in office and site environments
- Promote a strong Health & Safety culture
- Full UK Driving Licence essential

Pay: £30,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
