The Medical Specialties Division is seeking to appoint an Administration Assistant on a 12-month fixed-term contract to join the Dermatology Administration Team at University College London Hospital. The successful candidate will support both the reception service at Mortimer Market and the wider administrative function within the Dermatology department.
The ideal applicant will be proactive, highly organised, and possess excellent communication and IT skills. They will be able to effectively prioritise their workload, adapt to changing service demands, and provide support to colleagues across the team when required.
The post holder will work closely with a wide range of staff, including administrative and clinical colleagues, nursing and medical teams, allied health professionals, and support workers. They will serve as a key point of contact for patients, relatives, GPs, external healthcare professionals, and tertiary referrers, both in person and via telephone.
While previous NHS experience would be advantageous, it is not essential. However, proven experience working in an office environment is a key requirement for this position. The successful candidate must be able to manage a busy and varied workload while maintaining a professional and patient-focused approach. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, together with strong interpersonal abilities, are essential for success in the role.
Although part of the Dermatology Administration Team, this position will primarily support the Dermatology reception, a patient-facing area that requires a high standard of customer service and communication.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to begin a career in NHS administration, as well as for existing NHS staff seeking a new challenge. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive support and training from an experienced, welcoming, and friendly team.
