Are you a legal professional who is interested in contributing to the public’s enjoyment and understanding of science?
About us
This is an exciting time for Science Museum Group (SMG) as we seek to deliver a world class experience to our visitors nationally through a range of new objects, galleries and masterplans, alongside a range of first class, innovative consumer experiences and products.
To support this work, we are looking for a commercially astute Legal Counsel to join our corporate services team to provide legal support for a variety of aspects at SMG on a fixed-term basis for 12 months, based at the Science Museum in London.
About the role
As Legal Counsel, you will report to and be supervised by the General Counsel (working with one other lawyer as part of a small team) although you will be encouraged to work directly with internal clients and to run your own matters from the outset. In this role, you will need the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise and think clearly and commercially, with a wide range of stakeholders in mind.
About you
As Legal Counsel, you will be pragmatic with a good broad understanding of commercial contracts, although additional experience and expertise in other relevant areas of the law is welcomed. You will have experience in or knowledge of intellectual property law, data protection as well as IT contracts and will bring a proactive, enthusiastic and motivated approach. You will be collaborative and will enjoy taking on new challenges.
Don’t feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn’t match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
